![]() If you don't like the perceived inaccuracy, don't listen to the forecast, maybe? especially compared to forecasts from just a few decades ago. although snowfall predictions are never perfect (that's why they're typically given as a range of possible outcomes), they're quite good. I hate that feeling and hate that for others who either aren't prepared, or couldn't prepare until today. I normally keep a good pantry, so when went into Kroger to get beverage mixers I was about the only non-anxious person there, until I paid attention to the folks around me and it got me caught up for a second. That said, there's people who are normally prepared that get antsy and double down on their preparations, and others who just go overboard, and that's what we see regardless. Yeah I don't like seeing 6-12" days ahead only to get 2-3" but I'll take it and the preparation it puts in people. In the same way, if they predict less, people prepare for less or outright ignore warnings and then act surprised when they lose traction on the road or leave their holiday gathering only to find 3 inches on their vehicle. If they call off school at 6PM the previous day, many turn off the radio/tv and never would hear the "nevermind, schools will be on normal schedule" announcement. I take it as the "school announcement effect".
